Ecological Mitigation Projects
Mitigation projects involve reducing negative impact on rare and protected species and their habitats. The loss or alteration of habitats that support protected species should be kept to a minimum during construction and other land-based projects, and a detailed scheme must be developed to support a planning application or a mitigation licence. This may involve the creation of ponds, creation of hedgerows, wildlife planting and woodland management. Ecological mitigation can be simple or, on large scale projects, require input at an early stage to ensure that species and habitats are considered within master planning.
