Translocation Projects

Translocation Projects

Translocation projects involve the removal of protected species from a development site where they cannot be maintained to a new site outside the development footprint. The Ecology Partnership can help identify new sites or opportunities for translocation.

Translocation is often associated with reptiles and amphibians. These species are captured and released into a new site which supports optimal habitats that these species can exploit. Translocation projects can take many months and are constrained by seasons and weather conditions. Therefore it is vital that such a project is planned to ensure developments have a realistic time frame and to avoid significant and costly delays.
