Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)
An Environmental Impact Assessment is a procedure and an environmental decision support tool. The EIA process provides information on the likely impacts of development projects and provides a procedure for ensuring that the likely effects of the development on the environment are understood and taken into account in the planning and design process.
EIA must be carried out for certain types of project while in other cases may be necessary if significant effects on the environment are likely. As part of the EIA an Ecology chapter is required to support the Environmental Statement (ES).
At the Ecology Partnership we have undertaken multiple Ecology chapter to support an ES, ranging from large residential development to infrastructural projects.
