Other Mammals
The Ecology Partnership can offer a range of surveys for other mammals. Priority species such hedgehog or brown hare, for example, and not protected due to their declining population but are protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act (1981), Wild Mammals Protection Act (1996) and are species of ‘principle importance’ under the NERC Act. So consideration of these species is a material consideration in the planning process.
As such impact assessments informed by survey particularly on large scale projects maybe required. The main cause of decline in mammal species are habitat loss and fragmentation of suitable habitats across the landscape. The Ecology Partnership can design targeted mitigation and enhancement strategies for a range of UK mammal species.
If you require more information on these assessment or further ecological consultancy, please call us or email us.
