BREEAM
Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method
BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) is a method for assessing the environmental quality of developments. BREEAM credits address previous land use of the proposed development site, the ecological value of the site, any predicted negative impact on ecological features, the potential to enhance any ecological features and ensure legal compliance and appropriate management. For further details see www.breeam.com.

The BREEAM assessment method aims to address the environmental performance of the construction industry whilst realising the need for developing a safe and healthy environment. Criteria are grouped into seven different categories. The issues assessed are: energy; water; pollution; materials; transport; ecology and land use; health and well-being.
The Ecology Partnership can undertake the Land Use and Ecology BREEAM assessment, and include the following credits:
- LE 01 – Site selection
- LE 02 – Ecological risk and opportunities
- LE 03 – Managing impacts on ecology
- LE 04 – Ecological change and enhancement
- LE 05 – Long term ecological management and maintenance
BREEAM assessments are undertaken by experienced ecologists who are full members of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (MCIEEM) and assist the developer in maximising credit rating.
